I asked Nicole how they met and got engaged and she said, “Our love story began back in 2011. Thanks to some mutual friends we met in our kitchen. Seems like an odd place to meet your soon to be spouse but we wouldn’t of had it any other way. Some flirtatious banter was exchanged and of course Nicole was intrigued by Jonathan’s sarcasm and whit. The rest is history! Nothing could prepare us for the next 6 years of laughter, loss, and love. Jonathan decided to pop the question while we were visiting his father who was being cared for at MUSC. A dear friend of our families opened his home to Jonathan to ask Nicole to marry him. It was beyond beautiful and everything she could have ever hoped and dreamed of. Of course, the answer was yes! We then celebrated our wonderful news with our family in a tiny hospital room filled with love, tears, and laughter. Since that amazing day we have said goodbye to an irreplaceable person, we have bought our first home, gained 4 fur children, and will finally become husband and wife. We cannot wait to begin this new chapter in life and are thrilled to be celebrating it with all of you.”

They chose a different venue then the one they had now. Unfortunately due to some unexpected events they had to choose a different venue. As you can imagine, she was extremely distraught and frantic trying to find a beautiful space to host their reception within a reasonable price range. They recently moved to the Chapin area and found their venue while driving by. Nicole decided to reach out to the owner and schedule a tour with her sister-in-law. They were both blown away by how accommodating the owner was and how beautiful the space was. It was perfect for their wedding and Nicole felt like God had answered her prayers when he sent her to The Venue of Chapin.

“We are both very hard headed. Not such a romantic term to describe us but when we make our mind up about something it will take an act of congress to change it.” They have been together for 7 years and 9 months so it definitely works :)

I asked Nicole what they are most looking forward to on their wedding day and she said, “As cliché as it may sound we are both looking forward to just being married. We started our lives together on January 1st,2011 and on November 3rd, 2018 we will finally be able to continue our lives with same last name. Our love has endured many trials. After almost 8 years of us driving each other crazy we are still crazy about each other.”

Brandon and Harley met because of a mutual friend.  One night that mutual friend invited Brandon and Harley to play an Xbox party.  “We were going to play Call of Duty together.  After playing online games for a few months, I gave him my number and we haven’t stopped talking since!”

When I asked how Brandon proposed, Harley responded by saying, “I had already picked out and ordered my engagement ring.  Brandon was the only one who knew when my ring was ready to be picked up.  He lied and said he had to work late.  He was actually picking up the ring!!  He proposed that night/morning around 2:00 AM. He planned on waiting till the next day but couldn’t wait.  So he got on his knee in the dinning room.”

Harley wanted something vintage, romantic with an outdoor space and fell in love with Duncan Estates as soon as she saw it.  She was excited to be able to make the venue her own.

They are both beyond excited to have all of their family and friends together.  Most of Harley’s family is coming from 12 hours away and Brandon’s is coming about 3 hours away.  But most of all, they are both ready to finally marry their best friend!!

I can not believe this little nugget is one! I absolutely love this family. They struggled so hard with getting pregnant with their first, Hampton, so Whaley was a wonderful blessing.

Chris & Sarah Burnett Wedding, Gilbert, South Carolina

Venue: Southern Oaks Events

Baker: Bailey’s Cakes

Florist: The brides sister!

Chris and Sarah got engaged on April 21 of 2018 and planned their big day at Southern Oaks Events in Gilbert, South Carolina.  They met in the 4th grade and have been friends for 14 years and dating for 2 years.  They both immediately describe their relationship as being carefree which is wonderful to me!

He proposed by stopping to ask a lady to take their picture while they were walking along Fernandina Beach at sunset and after she took a couple Chris said, “Wait, can you take one more?” and he pulled out the box, got down on one knee, and asked Sarah to marry him. Needless to say, the lady and Sarah were both shocked!

Of Course I asked why she chose Southern Oaks and she said, “I first saw Southern Oaks in pictures when one of my extended cousins got married there and I thought it was beautiful. So, I looked into it while doing (premature) research on wedding venues and availabilities and August 11 was one of the few Saturdays they had available for the end of this year. I knew it was the perfect time and the perfect place for our reception!” Their ceremony was held at a very special location, her home church, Red Bank Methodist Church in Red Bank, SC.

The most special and important moment for them both is seeing each other when the doors to the Sanctuary open and Sarah enters and the second, is their first kiss as a married couple!

Sarah Kyzer Bridal Portraits, Lace House, Columbia, South Carolina

Wow.... just wow!!! I am so excited to finally be able to share Sarah's bridal portraits!  She was absolutely stunning in her gown that she bought from New York Bride and Groom.  We decided to go to the South Carolina Lace House downtown and use their gardens.

We were joined by Sarah's mom, sister and friend/make up artist and hair stylist who did a fantastic job!  The grounds at The Lace House are stunning and we spent two hours laughing and taking beautiful portraits.

I can not wait to start editing Chris and Sarah's wedding but until then, please enjoy Sarah's gorgeousness!!

Donovan & Brandi Wedding, Charleston, South Carolina

Donovan & Brandi Wedding, Charleston, South Carolina

I apologize in advance for the over sharing of photos with this wedding but Don and Brandi are one of my absolute favorite couples and I loved everything about their day!

Inseparable.  That's how Donovan and Brandi describe themselves and I absolutely love their story!  When asked how they met, Brandi said, "I saw Donovan for about 7 months on the school bus in 10thgrade as my school had to help out his school and pick up children that were on our route. Donovan happened to be one of those students. However, he never talked to me, but the very first day I saw him, I told my mom even though it sounds crazy, that I had found my husband. Everyday on the bus, I would hope he might say something, but he never did the entire sophomore year, but in July 2007, Donovan sent me a friend request on MySpace. I sent him a thank you note for the request as I did with every new request and he sent me a message. He didn’t even know who I was or that we had seen each other before, but lucky for him, I did.  We messaged for most of the day and then exchanged numbers and began talking everyday all day until we fell asleep. We officially began dating on August 13, 2007 and the rest history. He was stuck with me for life and he didn’t even know it yet."

They are truly high school sweet hearts and have been together since the 11th grade!

I asked how he proposed and she said, "We were moving to Savannah, GA in June 2017 as Donovan’s job had relocated him from Charleston, SC and my mother threw us a going away party at my favorite restaurant, Miyabi, with about 40 of our closest family and friends. We were all about to start eating the going away cake, when my mother stood up to say how much she was going to miss me and our daughters, Allie and Ava Grace, and how she was trusting Donovan to take care of us, and that she was just a quick drive away. Donovan then stood up, and I was confused because he shouldn’t have had anything to say, but I assumed he wanted to say thank you to everyone for coming out to send us off, but then he started talking about how much he loved me and he wouldn’t have been where he was in life without me and how I was a great mother to our girls and whole bunch of stuff that I honestly can’t remember as all of it is really a blur, but I will never forget at the end of speech, he asked if I would marry him. I cried so hard, that my eyelash began falling off, but I of course shook my head yes, as I was unable to utter any words as I had been waiting for that moment forever."

2018-08-06_0001.jpg
2018-08-06_0002.jpg

Don and Brandi wanted an indoor venue where they could get married in one room and have their reception in another. Brandi hates the heat, the sun in her eyes, and nasty mosquitos, so a completely indoor ceremony was a must. They both also wanted a location where parking was not going to be an issue and where their wedding was to be the only event going on that day. Finally, they wanted a central location in Charleston so The College Center at Trident Technical College met all of their needs!!

When I asked Brandi what they both were looking forward to the most on their wedding day, Brandi said, "Besides marrying my best friend, we are looking forward to our first dance. The dancing on the clouds experience was a last minute addition and we had to look hard to find a DJ that could give us that experience. We finally found him and we just know that moment is going to be so memorable for us and our guests. It’s going to be beautiful!"

And she was right!  It was amazing and so magical to witness.

Andrew & Katie got engaged!

Andrew & Katie got engaged!

I was apart of something so special!  Katie's dad contacted me about a surprise engagement for his daughter and I just couldn't pass it up!  Andrew's family had planned a party specifically so that he could propose to his high school sweetheart.  I was surrounded by both of Andrew and Katie's closest friends and family while he led her to the backyard where everyone lined up with the letters "will you marry me" spelled out in balloons.

Katie's reaction was filled with surprise and shock as well as excitement.  I had such a wonderful evening capturing this special moment and getting to know both of their families as well as their story.

Andrew and Katie met in high school and went to prom together and had been together ever since.  They have both graduated college and are now going to different graduate schools in different states and Andrew decided to go ahead and seal the deal before Katie went off to Tennessee.

Katie was so surprised and never expected to be proposed to.  She said that she thought that he was going to give her a horse as a going away gift but in a way he did!  The engagement ring Andrew gave her has two horse shoes on either side which is a perfect touch.

Jake and Kendel Gower

Jake and Kendel Gower

One of my favorite locations is the beach so when Kendel contacted me about their Isle of Palms wedding I was so excited!  It was a rainy start so unfortunately they couldn't have the ceremony on the beach but they made due underneath the deck.  After the ceremony, it thankfully stopped raining and we were able to take the rest of the photos on the beach.

Jake and Kendel were amazing to work with and so was their wedding party.  Kendel ordered her dress online and the veil was her future mother in laws from her wedding in the '80's and it worked so well with her dress!

Sam & Kristina Homecoming, Columbia, South Carolina

I just love Sam and Kristina! Just a few short months after they were married last year, Sam was deployed to Afghanistan for nine months.  Kristina was devastated but very supportive.  She contacted me in April about the idea of doing a homecoming session for when Sam came home and I was all about it!

So the last week of June, I got the message that Sam was coming home on June 30th around 11:30pm and I was so excited for her!  June 30th arrived and I headed to the airport to meet with Kristina who was a ball of nerves and excitement.  It was the best experience that I could ever photograph and be apart of.  I couldn't stop smiling the entire time.  The excitement, the laughter and love were so amazing to experience and capture.
